Green is considered a secondary color, and is a mixture of the two primary colors, blue and yellow. However, this gets a bit more complicated when you are talking about screen and print (perhaps a post for another time). There are many wonderful juicy variations of green, warm to cool, light and bright, or dark and dull. Green is commonly seen in nature in all its different varieties.

Psychology of designs states, “Green is a color that can evoke powerful emotions. It is a dominant color in nature that makes you think of growth. Think of nature and see the incredible variety of shades of green expressing renewal and life.”

Dr. Stephanie Lichtenfeld’s research suggest there is a link between, “green and creativity, ” in that it can be a signal of both physical and psychological growth (nbcnews.com). She goes on to state, “Green may serve as a cue that evokes the motivation to strive for improvement and task mastery, which in turn may facilitate growth.”
